You scored as Philosophy. You should be a Philosophy major! Like the Philosopher, you are contemplative and you enjoy thinking about the purpose for humanity's existence.

What does one do with a degree in philosophy anyway? montecatini85 January 5 2006, 21:57:56 UTC
I meant to mention: this is my version of philosophy. Granted I haven't had much exposure to the "academic" version of the subject, but the reading we did about the Greek and Enlightenment philosophers in 10th grade Western Civ. was, frankly, soporific. The best way to turn anyone off to an absolutely fascinating subject is to force them to read a poorly Xeroxed, 50-page text written during the era when the sole measure of academic renown was the length of an author's sentences; the closer they are to paragraph length, and the less comprehensible the article is, the greater the academic authority of its author. Unfortunately, these measures are also inversely proportional to the number of people who actually read the article.

Sophie's World was a lot better. I read it for extra credit in that Western Civ. class, and then never took the time to write the summary that would have gotten me the extra points, but it was definitely time well spent. Above everything I prefer casual philosophy; angsty teenagers philosophizing to themselves, posting their personal musings online for anyone to see, or small groups of people discussing the meaning of life late at night, because it's more fun than even E&M homework.

HELL NO!!! montecatini85 January 5 2006, 22:05:15 UTC
I finally read the percentage breakdown of my affinity for the various careers, and there are some serious problems with this quiz (besides the fact that it recommends how people should spend the rest of their lives based on 42 multiple choice questions)! First, physics isn't even a category! And then between chemistry, math, and philosophy, which all received the same score, chemsitry appears first, and philosophy last, but philosophy is still my recommendation. Hmmm...actually, they're probably just in alphabetical order. Eh.
