New Beginnings

Well...I'm finally moved. I ended up closing on the house on the 31st of July. Ironic, really, since that would have been Gar's and my 17th anniversary.

In the 9 days, I've gotten a puppy (Lady, a cockapoo. The Bug absolutely loves her), bought a house, moved, bought a new fridge (the old one didn't work when we got here) and met with the principal for my new school.

The town is very nice. It's little and has all the good (and bad) things about a small town. Everyone knows who I am simply because I'm the new person in town. But, we've also had nice visits with neighbors. In fact, one neighbor, a 91 year old woman, invited us over for coffee and ice cream sundaes. I hope I'm as with it when I'm 92.

The Bug has met a few friends which is nice. She's also discovering some new freedoms. She walked to the store and bought a couple of items for the first time the other day.

The house is wonderful. There is so much more room than the apartment, I don't know what to  do with it all. We also found out the in-ground sprinkler is in pretty good shape. It hasn't been used for about 10 years, but dad was able to fix anything that was wrong. It will be great next year when we start watering the ground again. I'm sure there will be a ew more reapirs, but nothing too bad, hopefully.

I had to go into the office yesterday. Apparently there's an IEP I have to lead in a couple of weeks and the principal wanted to give me a heads up. It's really scary to think that I am done with school and a professional now. I know I know the therapy stuff - I have confidence in that with no problem...but the whole paperwork part is scary. The IEP (individualized education plan) is a legal document and I have to have my I's dotted and T's crossed to make sure it's done right.

Overall, I think the move will be good.
