It started off with a bang (literally thunder) and went uphill from that! (yes, uphill).
Graduation started at 10:00, I walked across the stage about 11:15 or so. I don't think it hit me yet that it was really real. I have to say, when they announced "Summa Cum Laude" after my name, it felt good. After the rest of the class walked, the University President asked for faculty to stand and be applauded for all they do, as well as staff members. Then he asked for the parents and families of the graduates to stand for without their help none of us would have succeeded. It was very true. I looked over there and saw my parents and
garzan and Bug and was struck with how much it meant to me they were there and supportive of my education. Teared up a bit but never actually cried.
After that we were to lunch and then came home and played with my
new toy a friend gave me as a grad present. She credits me as the reason she stayed in school last year and is in graduate school now.
Following that we said goodbye to my dad and
garzan as they went back to Montana. Mom stayed here with me to attend the graduation banquet.
There I received the "most likely to become famous" award from my peers. I was also award the "outstanding graduating senior" by the faculty members. I couldn't even look at the plaque for a long time because I was afraid I'd cry. It has my name engraved on it and everything....
I'm feeling pretty darn special right now. I realized that I worked hard to keep my good grades, etc. but I've never been one to really "toot my own horn" and I never realized that others knew how hard it was at times.
