I remember as a kid I never paid much attention to the holidays we got out of school first, except Christmas. Memorial Day was a Monday off. As a child, how can you understand sacrifice of that nature?
As family members of soldiers, we understand it all too well. I know that I think of Dave Boris and his family every day, not just holidays. I'm grateful the nation takes a pause on days like these to remember him as well.
