It was more than a gut feeling. For the past two weeks Lindsay had been sick on and off, and the tightness in pants only made her believe it more. The past couple of weeks, and the season being what it was, both Danny and Lindsay had been sure that she'd had the flu, but now she was sure it was something else. She was sure that she was pregnant and

He pushes open the door to their apartment with caution, not wanting to wake Lindsay or Lucy if either of them is asleep. The apartment is quiet, and he can't see them; he places the bags carefully on the kitchen counter, nothing needing refrigeration, and toes off his shoes before going in search of Lindsay and finding her lying on the couch. Her position suggests cold, and he pulls the blanket from the back of the couch, leaning over her to drape it on her body to warm her.

Sitting up, still looking pale, Lindsay kept the blanket around her and she went to stand, "Do you want something to drink?"

Shaking his head, he stands and eases her back down to the couch. "Rest. I can make some tea, want some? Peppermint fer yer belly, keep it calm?" He doesn't want her exerting herself any more than necessary, and especially not now that he's home. "Just stay on the couch, babe, I'll take care'a everythin'. Ya can nurse Lucy there, too, when she wakes up. I'll take care'a everythin', I want ya restin', gettin' better." Leaning, he kisses her forehead, tucking the blanket close around her body. "Okay?"
Reply
"No, just normal tea, milky and sweet please." Leaning in she pressed a kiss to his lips, her hand coming to brush his cheek before she stood, "I need to go to the bathroom anyway," she said softly as she pulled the blanket around her and headed towards the bathroom, "Could you make me a cheese sandwich too?"
Reply
"Will do. Go ta the bathroom but I don't wantchu doin' anythin' I can do, so usin' the toilet an' feedin' Lucy's all I'm gonna letchu do while I'm here." He means it; she needs to rest, and she's had Lucy on her own while he's been at work. She's still had to wake up for night feedings and diaper changes when he's been working; he imagines that it can't have been particularly restful for her. "Yer sure a cheese sandwich is gonna be good with yer belly? If yer still throwin' up, I could thaw out somma Mom's chicken soup?"

Stopping on her way to the bathroom she nodded slowly, "Yes cheese, I really fancy it." Lindsay gave him a weak smile before heading towards the bathroom once more.

He doesn't want to make her the cheese sandwich; he puts the triple-bagged soup in a pot of water, turning the heat on low to slowly melt it. With a deep breath, he begins to make her sandwich, putting the kettle on for tea for both of them. He prefers his black, with a little sugar for taste; she takes hers light and sweet. When the water boils, he pours the tea (a heavy mug for him and a lighter one for her), and plates her sandwich, carrying it to the TV tray kept by the couch for her needs.

A few minutes later she comes back from the bathroom and sits down, on the couch with her head bowed as she set something down on the table before her. Slowly she sat back, drawing up her legs as she looked at it with wide eyes, the whole time not saying a word to Danny or even letting him know she knows he's there.

He knows what that is; he just can't believe that she's taken one, and by the expression on her face, he knows exactly what it says. Leaning over the couch, he sees it clearly, and sees the one word to confirm his thoughts.
It's not the flu, he realizes, and suddenly wraps his arms around Lindsay, hugging her tightly. "Oh my god," he whispers into her hair, halfway between tears of joy and complete shock. "We're havin' another baby."

"Yes," she said finally, her head finally lifting so she could look into his eyes, "Surprise."

Biting down on her bottom lip she looked into his eyes, "Are you sure that you're okay with this? I don't want this to ruin our plans."

"Hey," she said softly, her hands moving to brush over his hair and cheeks, "get your ass back up here." She reached for the tea and then the sandwich.
