I'm not really sure what to say on the subject of all this list-making, so I think I'll just leave it alone for now.
My Grandmother Winnifred gave me a book by this muggle philospher, Roland Barthes recently, and it's actually kind of interesting; he talks a lot about the effect of 'modern' society (that being in the 1950s), and it's written very nicely, although some of it is going over my head, not having a perfect grasp on the finest details of muggle society. Still, his ideas are interesting. Jasper, have you ever read any of Barthes' work? He has a few pages on "The Poor and the Proletariat" in his collection "Mythologies" at which you might be interested in taking a look. I'm not entirely sure what he's going on about, but it sounds impressive!
After I read a little more Barthes, I felt a little (to quote Saraswati) "dull," so I tried to make cookies. I want to offer you lot first pick of my latest experiment in the kitchen. I, erm, got a little bored waiting for them to finish cooking, and I think trying to use magic to hurry it up was a bad idea.
