I wasn't going to comment because I dislike navigating livejournal via mobile, but this chapter kept spinning around in my head. Charles's choices are absolutely mind reeling. Especially the cliffhanger! Charles, the logical half, is the one who controls Baskerville. Yet when faced with a gun to his head, an obvious danger to his life and therefore an enemy, his supposedly logical side does not order the elimination of the enemy. Previously Charles seemed to think himself able to give the order to rip Erik apart, but when the time came, well, we just read what happens. I wonder if Charles will still be able to say that he and Baskerville are entirely separate sides, logic versus emotion and instinct, when he recovers (or is in whatever state the author has planned). His subconscious obviously prefers Erik alive and able over his own life. Unless Charles already knew how else he could survive a bullet in his brain. Or if Erik hadn't in fact shot him and had instead clubbed him in the head hahahahhaaha. Then that would destroy all my theorizing.

I love this 'verse. There is so much thought and detail and characterization...My compliments to the author :P Hopefully next chapter won't be as brutal. Or maybe not. I think all fanfiction readers/writers must be masochistic to enjoy all that angst all the time.

Ugh I know what you mean about mobile LJ! Thank you for taking the trouble to comment despite the awkwardness <3 I appreciate it immensely.

You know, Charles thinks a lot of things about himself that may or may not be true. Though he knows himself well enough, he doesn't take into account he fact that he, like everyone else, also grows. Things that were true when this story began have stopped being true now.

Nope, your theorizing is great! Erik shot him. And Charles will not be best pleased when he comes back around, trust me.

Next chapter not being brutal... uhm... have tequila on hand.
