[Voice post // Public]

[Voice mode has been accidentally turned on; the sounds of splashing and grunting can be heard, as Kisame hauls himself out of the water. A clatter as he rights himself and the communicator falls out of his pocket; the sound of it being picked up can be heard, as well as the scrape of a thumb accidentally running over the microphone.]

[Itachi is clearly more used to operating the communicator than say... Kisame. When he activates the voice command for a response there is little to no sound that follows, except for the initial noise the device makes by itself.]

Kisame. There is a great deal we should discuss, it seems.

[As usual Itachi's voice is well under control and monotone. However, one that has known him for a long time, and spent a lot of time with him, might be able to spot a very vague pleasantness. If anyone was missed from their home world, of those not already here, it's Kisame.]

Itachi-san.... You're telling me? I saw you just last evening, but I hear you've been here for a while.

[Flustered as he is by this whole situation, he's still sharp enough to pick up on Itachi's moods, and he's definitely glad to hear the shift in tone, tiny though it might be. Kisame never was quite so difficult to read as Itachi--his own relief to hear from his partner is pretty obvious.]

I'm on my way to meet with Konan right now; I should probably come find you after that, huh? Where are you, anyway?

[A few beeps follow thereafter, and a muttered curse; the map he's been sent clearly doesn't want to work with him.]

Yes, you heard correctly, in that instance. I have been here for a duration of four months, seventeen days. Not nearly as long as some others, but long enough to have learned a little of the ways in which World's End functions. You will find getting here to have been decidedly easy, I presume? And getting out... is decidedly not.

[There is a brief pause, as though Itachi is perhaps... considering something. After a moment he speaks once more, though he seems a little more guarded now than he was moments before.]

As much as I would like for you to come and find me, Kisame, it is probably best if I come and meet you. It is doubtless that I know the city a little better than you, at present. Remain where you are meeting with Konan and I will be by later. Any questions she has not yet answered for you, I will then do my best to answer.

In the meantime... please be cautious. Exercise your attentiveness to others sparingly. Not all of them will speak of things worthwhile listening to.

Ah, you really have been here a while.... I just woke up to find myself here. Tobi did mention the problems with leaving, though.

[Quiet chuckle; he knows better than to dispute a point Itachi's clearly more knowledgeable about.] Right you are; I'll stick around until you come over, then.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks. Seems like it might be prudent to listen to what I can and run anything interesting I do get by others to verify it, though.... I don't suppose you had anyone particular in mind with your warning?

Tobi... He would. He's been here quite a while, also. In fact, both of us have been here prior to now. There was a time when we had managed to leave somehow, only to awaken once more... returned to this place. It's strange how it works, and there are little chances of recalling how one escaped before. Needless to say, getting out the same way is unlikely, anyways.

As for the warning... make of it what you will. You're not unwise, Kisame. I sought only to inform you that there exists a vast majority of those here that would waste your time before helping you.

[This means he's not about to name names, not here, but later he might, when he needn't worry about an unstable network connection being tapped into.]

Ah.... I'm sorry to hear that. So even experience doesn't help, in this place.... Kind of depressing, actually. If nobody can figure out how to leave, then what exactly can we hope for, here? Just survival?

Of course, Itachi-san. But that's the same anywhere else.

Not true. As I have said, it is possible to leave, but it doesn't seem likely to recall, upon the chance of return, how one escaped before. This may vary between individuals, of course. It is rarely the same with everyone.

As well... experience always helps, Kisame. It is better to be with it, than without it. Similarly, knowing that people who waste time are common should be all the more reason for you to be cautious. Especially because I find their numbers here in World's End to be... colossal in comparison to those back home.

Mmh, fair enough, I guess.... Still a damned shame.

I guess so.... Figures most of the people here will probably just make things harder.

[Another rueful laugh, though without surprisingly little by way of frustration in it. He can readily accept the idea that people in general can be a huge pain in the ass, and it doesn't seem like enough of an issue to put too much of a damper on his mood, as long as he uses common sense. He does offer a speculative noise, though.]

World's End.... pretty melodramatic name, don't you think? If life goes on and there are ways to leave, even if you don't remember them, it doesn't seem much like the world's ending at all.

Over time your opinion on the name may or may not change. Nevertheless, it is not we who decided upon it.

In some ways, more so than others, it seems befitting. For those of us that are permanently unable to return home, this is indeed the end.

[Another brief pause before a rather faint sigh can be heard. This is Itachi realizing he sounds like he is lecturing where he already decided he would not.]

Those matters aside, we will be meeting soon. We can finish this discussion then. I... look forward to it.

That's for time to tell. If not you all, then who did?

I suppose so.... Or at least the end of a new beginning. [You can almost hear the grin; he's not much one for pessimism when he can avoid it. It's so dull. Like dying before you're actually dead.]

True enough. So do I, Itachi-san; take care.
