These are similar to the instructions I followed.... coowkiemonster December 9 2008, 03:59:39 UTC
First, get your XP CD ready... you'll most likely need it.

Click Start-> Control Panel, or open My Computer, then open Control Panel.

Next, double click "Regional and Language Options".

Then, click on the "Languages" tab. Check the box next to "Install files for East Asian languages". If asked for the cd, put it in.

Next, click on the bottun "Detail..."

Click on the "Add...", then choose "Japanese" for "Input language", and choose "Japanese" for "Keyboard layout/IME". If that's the wrong input, try other ones until it works.

Click OK. Then click "Language Bar...", and make sure the box next to "Show the language bar on the desktop" is checked". OK after you check it. Then OK again.

You should be back to "Regional and Language Options". If you are going to run Japanese program, click on the "Advanced" tab, and from the scroll-down menu (NOT the one in "Code page conversion table"), select "Japanese". Now, OK yoru way out.
You may need the cd again if you did that adjacement in the "Advanced" tab, and if it says it can copy files from the harddrive without the CD, do that.

There you go. For other languages, it is the same way, just different choices.

*I have the windows XP though so it might be slightly different for you. Hope I helped though ^^
