Pictures from Friday night's Halloween party will be posted soon. No pictures will be posted from the Horror Fest in the Woods, because the camera batteries were dead from the night before!
The Horror Fest was OK. Attendees were: R and C2, detonate_for_me and Adam, and lawpeeps. It got a late start due to technical difficulties, but we at least got through two complete films before calling it quits due to: A) no more power to the audio portion, B) a sudden biting cold, and C) intense sleepiness from the day's activities. And yes, 1,000 feet of extension cables WILL still carry enough current to power a projector, a DVD-R, and a speaker! We watched Hellraiser (1987) and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1919). And thankfully the speaker battery held out through the end of Hellraiser, but cut off just afterwards. So we switched the agenda from the Amityville Horror History Channnel documentaries to a silent film to adapt the situation!
Silent films have always been, and are meant to be watched with their accompanying orchestral score, but in this case it was okay given the alternative. And it actually made for a very creepy experience, as the ambient countryside noise filled in as a great soundtrack! Several armadillos and a bevy of coyotes paid a visit to our encampment. After finishing up at 3:30 (time-corrected by Daylight Savings), I spent time cleaning up and wrapping cables, and made it to bed at 5:30. I had a short 3 1/2 nap before getting up for the 2nd round of moving.
All day Sat. and Sunday I helped Techix pack and move his mother's apt. in Tulsa. It was awesome, curiously enough. I met his Uncle Craig, who is very cool, and had fun confronting and conquering the myriad difficulties one faces with moves. It all culminated with dinner at El Vaquero, where his mother was able to join us, along with cadence1, anarkistsdream (one of the fellow helpers on Sunday), and falfax. The move all weekend really revved me up for this new week, giving me a sense of accomplishment. And with the party Friday and the Sat. night marathon, I'd say all-in-all it was a great weekend!
