I keep delaying new posts because I have a ton of new photos that need to go up, but seeing as how the typical photo post takes at least 45 min., I'm running too behind. So I'm forcing myself to instead update more often, and worry about the pictures as I'm able.

Friday was Joe's funeral where I was able to reconnect with Ryan Jordan (whom I've been trying to find the past 4 years!).

It was also the Oklahoma Centennial! There were big things all over the state all day long. Though most of my exposure to the activities came second-hand, I did get to relish opening up my Centennial Chardonnay and Centennial Cabernet. Thanks to detonate_for_me the cabernet was replaced JUST IN TIME. She was able to bring it up on Thursday evening, which was lawpeeps's 30th birthday. After all 13 of us met up at Mexico Joe's, we then went to techix's house and had cake and watched the always-wonderful Free Enterprise (1998)!

Rather than going to the community fireworks on the Centennial, falfax and I decided to instead watch Day Watch (2006) which I've been dying to see for the past year and a half. It was as awesome as I'd hoped, but very disappointing to see that the whole reason I'd resisted watching my bootleg this past year was moot: The bootleg had only standard subtitles, and I'd expected the official American release to feature the ultra-cool animated subtitles that fit the scene ala Night Watch. It DOESN'T! That really sucks...and means I could've seen it all a year earlier. Oh well, at least it was everything I could've hoped for in a sequel.

Late last night I watched Billy Wilder's The Apartment (1960), which I daresay was one of the best films I've ever seen. It's so enthralling when you sit through dozens and sometimes hundreds of films to get to a gem that strikes you on a gut-level. It's like a reward for the occasional dreck.

Out tomorrow on DVD: Werner Herzog's (2nd best living filmmaker) Rescue Dawn, starring Christian Bale. I'm still DYING to see Herzog's Wild Blue Yonder...
