for some reason, I bought Nightwatch and couldn't watch it all the way through. I didn't like it.

Were you watching it with or without subtitles? I can see how wretched it might seem with English dubbing. Plus, the subtitles were rendered very artistically on this film (animated as pools of blood, et cetera), so that alone is a lot of fun.

The opening of the film seemed very forced and overly stylized, which put me off initially, but the film's pacing slows way down by the middle and works on charcterizaion a lot more.

I have them in my reading queue! I'm greatly looking forward to finding out more information about the characters and the universe they're set in. Is there actually a Dusk Watch novel yet?

I actually have had a bootleg of Day Watch on DVD for six months now, but I just keep deciding against watching it because I want my first experience with it to be in a theatrical setting.
