The most disgusting thing I've ever seen

So about three weeks ago detonate_for_me posted this link, and it made me shudder for days. All I could hope was that given the sudden exposure, people would be able to give this Romanian man some help. But readers of the article knew next to nothing about the specifics, as the author had decided to protect the man's identity.

Well this morning I thought, "That poor man is still out there suffering. I need to go see what new comments have been left, and hopefully by now a donation fund has been started". Thankfully, when I went there again, I found the story has recently spread to Romanian news outlets and to many people online, and now after 18 years of suffering with this mysterious condition, this man is on the road to a recovery.

Beforehand I was opposed to the European Union, but this makes me a believer that its for the best, even if it will erode smaller countries' individualism. Of course, many of those countries had already lost their modern-identity to communism, so I guess they had nothing to lose.

This past Friday I finally got treatment for a scalp condition that's gotten progressively worse the past year and a half. When I discovered how easy the solution was (a temporary steroid shampoo + 10 days of Ketaconazole tablets), I had been heavily lamenting the fact I'd wasted such a long time frustrated with the problem. But this man's relief has to be thousands of times more than that. 18 years to live with such a problem as he has is mind-boggling, and reminds me that my problems can never be so bad.
