Garh!

Today was the day from hell. It began with me needing to update a few of the reserve web pages. I stupidly decided to clean house and create new pages from scratch for SOC 4950/5950. The network was really clogged, and I had to redo everything at least three times. Just when I thought I'd suceeded, I get an irratated call from a professor. Turns out that the network had a glitch, so it certainly wasn't problems with my html coding.

I ended up staying late, and even taking work home with me. This is rare, but it compounded the general flurry that work is otherwise. The students are starting to return, and I have a list of 28 things to finish by the time the semester starts for OSU. Thank God cadence1 and James have taken so easily to the new reserves duties. They'll be helping to keep me sane this next six weeks, the busiest most insane time of the year at work. Now if only the doctor had gotten my father's test results by the end of the day so we'd know why he's in the hospital!

Michael flew home yesterday. Cory's still here till later this week. He's talking about having a party here since the in-laws will be in Colorado hiking after Wedesday afternoon. I really enjoyed the day we spent last Thursday at the mall, just taking it easy, sitting in the super-massage chair for two rounds with a cup of green tea and the newest Star Wars Insider issue.

I NEED a vacation. I'd been saving my time-off for the Loads of Dames shoot in early October, but given how rotten I've felt the past month, I need to give in and just use it. I'll spend two days reorganizing my CD and DVD collection, cleaning out the car trunk, as well as general reorganization of everything in general. Then I'll spend 2-3 days over a weekend going to Silver Dollar City to break the Fire in the Hole record in celebration of finishing my documentary last month, then I'll spend the next few days catching up on the stacks of movies and books I've amassed the past year and a half.

Seriously, I need help when it comes to my viewing habits lately. I can't get through ANYTHING without having to stop it for some dippy reason, and then next time there's an opportunity to see something again, I'm with someone else that wants to start something fresh. So right now I have watched the first half of the following:

Son of Kong
The Amityville Horror II
Jean Luc Godard's Weekend
Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy
DayWatch
Judgement at Nuremberg
Ichi the Killer

That's so cool knowing I can polish those off in just six hours or so, but I just need that alone time to do it.

cleaning, work, movies, silver dollar city, vacation, stress, books
