Tomorrow (Sat. the 22nd) I'll be screening a copy of Sergei Eisenstein's 1938 film Alexander Nevsky out at the Pawnee Ranch! It's THE single most influential epic battle film for what would come later, as Eisenstein was the first to give us realistic battle scenes on this scale. He basically created the artform of editing, and when you watch movies like Braveheart or the Lord of the Rings, the battles are modeled after the language he presents here.
There'll be a food vendor cart next to the screening area, and 680 acres of land to explore prior to or after the film (runtime is 1 hour forty-eight minutes). The film will start promptly at dark (9:30 -ish), but I'll be there earlier shooting off the rest of my fireworks from the Fourth. Camping and swimming are options to anyone that wants to stay the night. Bonfires are fun.
This has been advertised in the Pawnee area the past few weeks, but I've been too busy to mention it elsewhere.
