Perseids!
Not getting any sleep tonight because of a meteor shower, and I'm totally thrilled.
In other news, my glasses are supposed to be ready tomorrow (er.. today) and I'm pretty thrilled about that, too. Sounds strange, I'm sure, but after 6+ years of not having any kind of back-up to my contacts, it's kind of a relief. They're nothing special -- el cheapo brand, but not ugly -- but still. It's a good thing for me, I think. I can also just reach over and grab them in the mornings, too, and see without having to deal with my eyeballs being all crabby and not in the least bit cooperative while I attempt to shove things into them again! How novel.
There is a bit of bad news, though.. I think my doggie, Picasso (the muttly one that was rescued from the parking lot, not my Jack Russel Terrier) had a stroke this morning. He's fine now, but it pretty much terrified me to death watching him just fall over and tremble.. and then seeing him nervous for the better part of the afternoon was no treat, either. We curled up on the floor with him and held him close until he stopped shaking, and have been keeping a close eye on him, but that's about the best we can do right now. He'll be with the vet while I am at GenCon, though, so I'm going to see if maybe they can do a checkup or something that weekend. He's such a sweet doggie, though.. I can't stand the thought of anything causing him pain. We don't even know how old he is, though, so whatever might be wrong is a bit more difficult to diagnose.
Sigh.
But yes, meteor shower. I'm going to go sit out on the grass and watch the sky with my puppies and my honey, and it will be good.
