Tatsuki, where are y--

---------

It starts with a blank screen, then the numbers "2007" appear in white. After, the images begin to appear.

Doumeki standing in front of the Carosel. He looks down at his communicator and says two words: "I'm here."

From there, the scenes take off, one after the other, not really in any order, just a myriad of memories.

Dancing with Rosette at a school prom, the lights bright in the City. At the archery range with Ishida, calmly and quietly firing arrows into targets. Ichigo brilliantly pronouncing that Ishida is gay. Some dialogue filters through:

"He sews, he's retarded, and he won't hit on Inoue."
"A friend of mine sews, you're retarded, and I'm not hitting on Inoue-san. Your logic is stupid."

A Thanksgiving dinner table, in which there is plenty of obvious yelling and shouting, the table crowded with Vash, Meryl, Livio, Wolfwood, Rem, Doumeki, Fai, Kurogane and Sakura-hime. Insanity ensues, but it's the good kind. The kind where one of the cats manages to snipe some turkey before someone catches them.

Now inside the Opera House, Doumeki is standing in front of a woman in a wheelchair, Lailis. Rue is giving orders and asking people if they're safe, so it seems. What the threat is, is unclear in this image, but more dialogue filters through.

"Are you safe?"
"I'm not helpless."
"I never said you were. I asked if you were safe."
"No one is."

The kitchen of the hot springs flashes by, with Doumeki, Fai, Rosette and Kurogane inside, then moving forward again to what seems like a mealtime. A large gathering, just for a normal evening. Doumeki, Watanuki, Yuuko, Fai, Kurogane, Sakura-hime, Sakura-chan, Syaoran-kun, Li Syaoran, Kamui, Lyra, Jowy, and a small appearance by Greed. It seems that the Hot Springs was a busy place.

Speaking of the Hot Springs, Doumeki and Autor are sitting on one of the couches, talking companionably. Watanuki brings them out some snacks.

Another conversation with Vash--who looks way too excited for his own good. More dialogue, this one typed across the screen:

"HiDoumekihowareyoutoday?"
"Wondering what happened to the space bar."

Doumeki teaching Rue and Autor archery. Training with Kurogane and coming home bruised and scratched. Fai bandaging up those bruises and scratches. A run-in with Rosiel. It seems that Doumeki has traded half his soul to Rosiel for Watanuki's freedom. Which later results in Wolfwood trading his own soul for Doumeki's freedom. Doumeki is not pleased.

"If you want to sell yourself that badly, don't use me as an excuse."
"I'm not. I'm doin' this o' my own free fuckin' will."
"I don't need your protection."

Doumeki walking out in the middle of the night to retrieve Kamui from an alley. Then he's stuck in a Saw trap. One where he must choose to either gauge out his own eye, or crush his own hand. If he does not make a choice, then his windpipe will be crushed, and he will die. He seems to be speaking through a communicator to Ishida. The screen goes dark, and all you can hear is the dialogue.

"...This is, no. Your eye or your hand? Doumeki, there is nothing acceptable about this situation. Why should we--Why should we be forced to play along to this kind of sadism? I'll get out, but I won't ... I won't follow his rules."
"Of course there's nothing acceptable, but would you rather die--"
*a breathy, strangled noise--then silence--then the matalic 'chunk!' of a mechanism released, then a sickening crunch, then another matalic 'click' and the heavy sound of a body slumping to the floor, followed by a low, strangled, pained groan*
"....fuck"
"DOUMEKI! .......Doumeki?"

How did he get out? Who knows, but the next time you see him, he'll be running through the halls of the Underground with Ichigo. After a moment, they split, as Ichigo goes after his sister, and Doumeki, Ishida.

He and Himawari are setting up their flower shop--Ajisai. They're just hanging the sign, written in bright colors. It seems to be going well. Now Doumeki is attending a ballet at the Opera House, but on by Rue, Fakir, Ahiru and Mytho, with Autor playing the piano. He seems to really enjoy it. Next is Vash's house again, the two of them sitting on the floor, playing Katamari Damacy on the TV screen. Meryl and Doumeki attempt to cook, and accidentally set fire to Vash's kitchen as Meryl knocks some alcohol onto the gas stove. Fortunately, they manage to put it out before it becomes serious, but Vash's stove is unable to be salvaged.

There's a party at the hot springs, with a ridiculous amount of people there. Doumeki himself is rather sober, considering the others, and he's currently making sure Rosette, who is dancing on the table, doesn't fall off and hurt herself. She does fall off, granted, but thanks to Doumeki, she doesn't hurt herself.

Ishida is cursed in a way that he thinks he is a witch hunter. Doumeki speaks to Orihime about it when she's upset:

"..Doumeki-kun...I..can't take it."
"Inoue-san...It's a curse. It will be over soon. Hang in there."
"..I..will try my best. But, it hurts. I'm so scared for everyone."
"I know. But this isn't really Ishida. It helps to remember that."
"...I know. It's so difficult to remember...I'm so worried he's going to get everyone hurt..."
"I'll try to keep him from doing something he'll ultimately regret."

At first, Doumeki plays along with Ishida, but then the other archer captures Watanuki. Later, Ishida apologizes, and Doumeki does the manly thing and says 'no problem' with out saying that exactly.

Himawari is gone. So are Fai and Kurogane, leaving him with the request that he look after Sakura-hime. It is something he'll come to take very, very seriously. Next curse day, he is turned into a child. Rosiel decides to take Doumeki in and dress him as a girl. Like, skirt and garters. Yeah.

Now he's sitting with a woman, Saya, and they are having tea. You might get an odd mental image of a certain poem: "Come into my parlor, said the spider to the fly."
Building 12 is bombarded by missiles.

There's a dog, a large one. Adrastus. There is also a cat and a bird-a harpy. They take prices, Adrastus speaking of beats and tempo. Doumeki, Autor, Vash, Riou and Lyra search the Hall of the Missing and the Library for any clues. There's a reign of the ten plagues of Egypt. Both Doumeki and Watanuki loose the eye that binds them.

Doumeki is dragged away from his room in the Hot Springs by a man covered in blood with a pyramid on his head. He is then put into a bizarre ritual, in which there is a glowing white aura around his hands that seems to get sucked away into a portal. Doumeki has had part of his soul stolen. Later, with the help of Yuuko, Watanuki rescues him.

The setting seems to be a 1920s bar. Doumeki is standing behind the counter, polishing a glass. Ishida is sitting on the counter across from him. Both of them look like they've come right out of a 1920s gangster film. They talk like it, too, their Brooklyn accents thick, similar slight smirks on both their faces.

"Seems ya got away from da Bull alright, Buttons."
"Looks like youse been stayin' outta their way yourself, Mickey."

Autor and Doumeki are playing Mortal Kombat. Yes, they're that cool. On a curse day, Doumeki seems to have gotten the ability to write down something and have it come to life. Fakir is annoyed and Autor is jealous. Later, the archer has a run-in with Drosselmeyer, and does his best to refrain from giving the writer his name.

There are some very large, very dangerous looking creatures chasing Rosette and Doumeki. The former is shooting at them with her gun, the latter loosing arrows at them. It looks like they're running for a corner currently warded for safety. Just as they're about to reach it, Doumeki's bow splinters as it's struck by one of the creatures. They move in for the kill. Rosette dives in front of him to save him. She's pierced through the chest with one of their claws, and she freezes, turning into a salt statue, which then disintegrates, the only thing left of her is the pocket watch, which rolls to the ground at Doumeki's feet.

Meryl and Doumeki attempt to give Sneakers the cat a bath in Vash's apartment while Vash is injured. Needless to say, neither come out unscathed. But the cat is washed, eventually.

Ishida returns to the City, his stomach in pieces. Doumeki goes off to find Orihime, while telling Ishida not to move.

"No need to worry."
"Who's worrying? I'm too busy looking for Inoue-san."
"Of course."

Lastly,

Doumeki has a box of Christmas presents which he drops at the foot of each person's apartment. Highlights include sunflower jewelery for Rosette, sakura blossoms for Sakura-hime, Shaun of the Dead dvd for Tatsuki, a book on famous swordsmen for Li-kun, flower hair clips for Sakura-chan, a cook book and flowers for Rem, Me, Myself and Irene for Livio, two large boxes of ramen for Wolfwood, a CD for Ichigo, Robinand Hood on dvd for Ishida, a necklace with ballet slippers for Rue, a couple nice pens and ink for Fakir, a leather-bound journal for Meryl, flowers and a pair of spider earrings for Saya, Katamari Damacy for Vash, and a gift certificate to a lingerie shop in town for Rosiel with a note: "To help with your garter collection."

You'll see him set the last one down outside the Cathedral, and he looks up at the building, before taking a step back.

"...I'll be back."

And with that, he vanishes.
