Some things I have learned:

1. If you show me love, I will give you freely of mine. But you must show me yours first.

2. Old ladies in seniors apartments are about the nicest folks to deal with in census work. They're home during the day, they are happy to talk to you, and they don't get pissy even when they're sure they filled out the form before.

3. The view from my window is exclusively made up of tree branches and a couple of power lines. It's beautiful.

4. My rats are about the cutest things in all of the world.

5. Paul Quarrington's book, Galveston really turns me on. I'm not sure why. I mean, part of it is that he writes about sex and the way he writes about sex, but that's not the only reason. I loved his book Whale Music when I was in high school (and when I discovered the Rheostatics and found that they'd named an album Whale Music as a tribute, and then did the soundtrack for the movie I was so pleased) and I think it may have had a similar effect. This book is about hurricanes. That's sexy, non?
