Nearly forgot to post about this!!
While I was away in Van, the 2nd day I was gone Husband called me and said 'the big screen tv is broken' and yes it's very broken. It's an old school projection tv, from like the early 90's. We got it from my Aunt and Uncle a few years ago and we knew it wouldn't last forever. Just didn't want to deal with not having a big screen. So we decided that we'd go TV shopping and that would be our christmas presents to each other. I watch tv upstairs, so we decided to go with either 46" or 50" and then downstairs, for video gaming, a 40" or 42". We went to Visions electronics yesterday and told the sales man what we wanted, and we ended up buying a 50" Samsung Plazma TV for upstairs. We figured plazma was good cuz there is little chance of image burn on the shows I watch and I don't need the HD qualities that the LCD have, since I watch girly shows and like no sports.
then for the downstairs we got a 40" Samsung LCD TV.
Our invoice listed both TV's as the 450 series, which for the 50" meant 720p and the 40" also 720p. Which was great for me. And they gave us a deal because we were buying 2 at once, and we paid $2,190 including taxes! Sweet hey!
So we left to go borrow a vehicle to put the TV's in, came back, waited for the warehouse guy to bring up the TV's, he came out with the 50" and we loaded it in, then he came back with the 40", loaded it in. All good.
Well on the drive to our house I looked at the 50" box and it said 1080p. I was like, whoa cool, I wonder if that's right?
We go the boxes inside and realized that they accidentally gave us the 550 series for the 50" tv. Which is the newer model and was going for $1,700. Whereas the 450 series was going for $1,100.
Niiice hey.
Then we went and bought a new TV stand for the 50", found a nice one at futureshop. We told a sales dude, he went to go get it. He was taking quite a while, came back and said that they have one left but the box is pretty mangled, and we can come take a look and see if we want it. We took a look and the metal was a bit scuffed up, and the sales guy said he talked to his manager and we could have 100 off the price. So instead of 300 now it's 200. We said, sure!
Took it home, unpacked it, and the only scuffed part is the part that sits on the floor, on the inside edge of the pedistil. Niice!
THEN! we decided to spend our $400 brick gift certificate, and already knew we couldn't get the TV stand from there because they have to order everything in (stupid brick). So we looked at DVD players, saw they had some Bluray's and decided, hey lets get one of those!
Turns out they were trying to clear out some of the Panasonic Blu Ray players, regular price 500, on for 250, and alas we bought it!
Then we rented Narnia on blu ray and watched it in awe.
I'm going to watch all my shows on HD tonight. heehee. Brodie keeps saying 'I can't believe these our our TV's! They are so nice!' and We only paid $2,100 for them!
Lets hope my good luck continues tomorrow and I'm not sick anymore. Stupid sore throat and general dizziness.
