So I noticed something interesting... So, to my knowledge, the audience at Intercon hasn't changed drastically. But the genre between the game I bid for last year and the game I bid for this year has changed significantly and with that Ive also noticed a drastic swing in the age range of the players who are signing up! Everything Must Go took a while to cross the sufficient player base last year, but it got there. We are way ahead of where EMG was last year, and that was a Saturday Morning game. Eden has better time slot, so I wouldn't be surprised if by the time we got there we had a full slot and maybe even some waitlist.

The difficulty is that we're up against some well known locals; Intercon, while drawing a diverse audience, is largely a Boston affair.

Also, the first and second round registration is largely a specific audience, and there are a lot of people who don't register until after full registration is open.

Saturday night is a key slot, though, and while we're not full up yet, we /are/ the third most popular game in our timeslot, meaning we're the most popular game with slots still open going into open reg.

re: the test run

Difficulty is (a) January is far away, and (b) January is January. People plan for January to be the month where they recuperate from holiday season, so usually people don't commit to things in January until they're certain they wouldn't rather stay home and sleep.

well, 80% of folks are right now signed up for at least 1 game, so no, peopel do nto really wait. but a relatively unknown non-local awthor will lose in the first rounds to the locals. next week you should fill though. you are past min anyway already

Well, 80% of people who are currently registered. My experience last year showed me that there are a sizable number of people who don't register until after open reg is open, and then scramble to get into games that still have slots open. Stuff like someone's new Sig. O deciding to come to the Con because their new Sig. O decided to come, or friends/roomies being convinced to come despite their initial decision not to.

This was actually some of the advice I got last year from regulars when I was worried about EMG passing the minimum player count.

gotcha. well we do have space in the con for another 50 people or so, so they may show up :) we will see. plus, games also fill day-of as folks who did not sign up look at what is open still
