Every nation, no matter how small, has had periods of great strife. Many of these try to honour their fallen soldiers in one way or another. But over the years, as the veterans die off and fewer children of each following generation learn about the sacrifices made so they can live their lives as they do, the meaning of these days of remembrance

It was only under our respective governments that we were only tools.

How would anyone even know the peace existed without war to compare it to?

Yet a government is nothing without those who enforce its will.

They would not have to. They would simply know that they lived in a world of calm and logic.

Those who haven't realized how much it's screwing them over, or the ones in charge of the screwing over in the first place? Yeah.

I don't think there's any "simply knowing" if they don't know what the alternatives are. Without the sour, the sweet wouldn't taste.

That is simply biologically inaccurate. If the tongue is missing the necessary taste buds to experience sour, if those exist for sweet those will carry out their duty unhindered.

War is a product of hatred and greed. That we are foolish enough to permit those aspects to rule our society and dominate our actions is disappointing enough. Add to it the suffering and violence scourging the land...

Simply put, war is an abomination of the truest sort.

It's a necessary evil, and that's that. World peace is a great idea, but humanity is never going to let that happen.
