damn.
yesterday i sliced the shit out of my thumb, badly. and what's worse is that there was a photographer here from the new times taking pictures of me carving a stamp for an article about letterboxing. i was trying to be all cool about how good i am at carving stamps but bah! there's a camera so i have to be all nervous and slice my thumb open. he got some cool shots of me bleeding profusely. and some other shots of blood splattered all over the stamp and the exacto blade.
afterward j and i took kaya for a walk and i got all lightheaded and sick feeling. very sick feeling. i guess i lost more blood than i thought? or maybe just needed food? don't know. all i know is that i could barely walk down the hill and j says i looked a bit green.
today i worked at the orchid shop and i have to say that the things k does that used to drive me nuts don't anymore. can't decide if it's because i don't care anymore or if it's because it's just so commonplace. for instance: she took 2 days off for "jury duty" only we all know she didn't go to jury duty because she left all her paperwork (her juror badge, parking permit, etc) in the office at the shop. another for instance: there's evidence that someone has been looking at child porn on the office computer. none of us would do that, but she has a really screwed up son who sometimes hangs out at the shop and i would bet good money it was him. he's the one who ran up nearly $1,000 in phone bills at the shop by calling 1-900 numbers. Anyway, I'm over being aggravated by it and more like just amused.
In other news, I had a potential client call me up to do some Flash work for his web site. I did his site originally when I worked at AHW. I called AHW to see if they could send me some of the files to work from and they said NO WAY... turns out he owes them a bunch of money. And then they told me there's no way I should work for him because he'll probably stiff me too. Okay. Sounds like a plan to me. It's too bad though, because I sure would like work. Fortunately, someone else just called me out of the blue ... a company that does restaurant interiors, signage, menus, ads. Sounds awesome, only problem is the first thing they want done needs to be done tomorrow. Too bad, I have weeks of work lined up. Ask me in a couple weeks and I'd be stoked!
So yeah, that's news around here. I need to get ready -- we're having dress rehearsal for Caravan tonight.
That reminds me: EVERYONE should come watch us dance June 13!
It's in Morro Bay and it's quite an extravaganza of middle eastern dance & music and the money goes to a scholarship fund for local kids to take classes at the rec center. Tickets are $7 and I can get you as many as you need!
