When I woke up I made the decision that I was not going to class. I feel fine, it was just one of those days. I better not use up all my absences too soon though, gotta save them for when I really am sick. Which isn't that often. My adviser said I will probably need to stay in this math, because some math is required for one of the psychology courses. That's disappointing, I was really hoping I could get out of it.

I watched Saw 2 last night. A few people I know that saw it in the theaters told me it was better than the first one, or as good. Sorry, it wasn't. The vat of used syringes was cool, but somehow the twist at the end just didn't do it for me. It wasn't as shocking as the twist in the first movie for some reason. And Donnie Wahlberg's character was such an idiot, he's supposed to be trained to deal with serial killers and then he just flips out. I'm trying not to give too much away for those who haven't seen it so it's hard to give a full review. But what the hell was Lucy from 7th Heaven doing in this movie? Everytime she was onscreen I half expected her to whine about Jimmy Moon and his new girlfriend. And I was just waiting for Ruthie to pop out of no where and get into everyone's business. God I hate that show, but I still watch it sometimes and I really shouldn't, it just makes me angry.

We're reading The Catcher in the Rye for English, and i've never read it before. I've always heard all these great things about it, but so far I'm not seeing why it's held in such high regard. Maybe I need to read the whole thing, but so far Holden is just complaining about everything. I really don't like having to dissect a book that I'm reading, which is basically what you have to do in English. Sure, I don't mind talking about some symbolism I might find, but to have to go searching for it kind of ruins it. The whole time I'm reading I just looking for paradoxes and irony and I forget to enjoy the story. Also, I haven't found any reason why this book is so controversial and is censored so much, especially in schools. I wondered why they weren't censoring books that are obviously much more graphic than the one's we've been discussing, but maybe it's because these books are aimed at a young age group. 120 Days of Sodom by the Marquis De Sade certainly hasn't come up anywhere, though maybe if I do some research I will see that it has. That book is absolutely depraved, there are things that I read in that book that I have never heard of in my life. Disgusting, but still very interesting. The movie, Salo, does a pretty good job of capturing what the book is like. I think they should have stuck with the title of the book and not changed the setting from France to Italy, but alright. The end of that movie haunts me, it's actually not the real ending because the last reel of the movie was stolen or destroyed, I forget. The director was actually murdered shortly after he finished the movie and a popular theory of why is because he made this movie. It's been called one of the most disturbing movies of all time in every list I've seen, so don't see it if you don't like that sort of thing. Way more disturbing than Caligula, which has been called THE most controversial movie of all time by some, but really that movie just has a lot of graphic sex and Malcolm McDowell (Alex from A Clockwork Orange) frolicking around ordering people to be killed for treason. Whoever reads this post will probably have no idea what I'm talking about. Oh well. Back to bed.
