She's seen some stomach-churning things in the past but this--
Sakura puts down the Hitomi for a moment to focus on not throwing up.
She doesn't know what to say. But it's not in her nature to let this go by without attempting to reach out. She respects Hakkai and cares about his well-being. Feels compelled to say something. Anything.
So she does for him what he's done before: avoids talking about the horror in the dream. It wouldn't do any good to ask.]
I haven't seen you or Gojyo around, Hakkai-san. I assume you left Konoha?
[An almost not-quite question. Halfway between that and a flat statement. It's an excuse, like everyone else who has left, she's pretty sure of that. But she can play along.]
There's a lot we don't know about this place, and as it seems like it's safer to travel alone for now.
[He sets the Hitomi down nearby to tend the fire. His wrists are both neatly bandaged. Hakkai can chi heal, but it doesn't work on himself. In spite of doing everything right to disinfect and treat the wounds, they're taking their time healing.]
Yes. I was originally drawn to Kusa. I initially had no interest in Konoha, but Kakashi-san said you were in need of healers. Before I knew it, I became caught up in all that, and decided that Konoha was where I was needed.
[He speaks so lightly, conversationally, that the bitterness is almost undetectable. But it's there. Oh, it's there.]

[ Gojyo watches Hakkai from the other side of what had been their cooking fire (although now it's nothing but ash; not cold enough out to need a fire to stay warm, he'd let it die) and his expression, could it be seen, is a mixture of apologetic self-loathing and disgust. He'd meant to stay awake, you see. He'd meant to keep alert, not only for any unwanted company but also so that you wouldn't dream.
And then he dozed off (or near enough, in that half-awake half-asleep place where dreams still seem real), and not only did you dream, but he experienced it right along with you. Didn't even wake up enough to wake you up. Some friend.
But go ahead and go back to sleep. He'll keep watch for the rest of the night, and there's no way he'll fall asleep again. ]
[The faint light of Gojyo's Hitomi is still present, and Hakkai stares at him a long moment. He must still be half-asleep, shaken from the dream, because it's a naked, worried sort of gaze.
Gojyo saw. He won't ask about it, and neither will Hakkai. So after a moment, Hakkai lays back down, curling tightly on one side, tangled in his blankets.]
[action]gojyo_saaamaSeptember 18 2009, 20:29:13 UTC
[ He doesn't need to see Hakkai's expression to know that it's wrong. His Hakkaisense is tingling. That's never a good thing. Just like Hakkai curling up around his scar is never a good thing.
Say something, don't say something. Say something, don't say something. Say something... ]
Hakkai.
[ It's such a habit now, isn't it? When Hakkai's upset, when it's raining, when his scar aches, remind him of who he is. But it's a new scar that's hurting, a whole new kind of injury, and Gojyo doesn't know how to address it. Or even if he should.
So he says "Hakkai" and it sounds like "I'm sorry", because there's nothing else he can think to offer. ]
[He's facing away from Gojyo, but his voice fortunately isn't muffled.]
It... really wasn't as bad as all that. [A tiny, pained laugh.]
I'm sorry you had to experience such an exaggerated dream.
[Hakkai seems to believe his words. There's no doubt it was an unpleasant experience, fearing for his life and all - but he and Yukari did things like that all the time. This time he may not have consented (and she mocked him for that), but in action it really wasn't different, so why does it hurt like this? Horror and disgust are things he feels about himself on a regular basis, and of course he feels those things for loving a youkai like Yukari, but he doesn't understand or refuses to believe the truth.
He just tries to patch over the hurt like the bandages on his wrists. Tight and neat. Nearly mended. Nearly.]

[ Did this really happen?
You suppose it is possible. But for Yukari to go from Madara, and you, to this man?
How the mighty have fallen.
Why did he not simply kill her?
You have never seen him fight, but he must be quite weak. Certainly she was powerful in her own world, if her stories are accurate, but here she is weak and mortal. To think this man would have thought he had some role of standing a chance in your war.
You suppose this dream is somewhat unfortunate, as Konan probably will not like the sight of it.
And words like 'faggot' just roll right off him, because that's ignorance and he doesn't give a damn what other think about his manhood, particularly Akatsuki folks, but there is plenty here that he struggles with. That he doesn't want someone as uncouth as this individual to point out.
He's so angry and nauseated he actually goes a bit cold, but Hakkai takes a few deep breaths.
He's never seen this person before.
...Gojyo and he have plans to leave, but still. Best find out.]
Hah, hell no. I don't fucking want your sloppy seconds. [Or would he be her sloppy seconds?]
Charming. [Raises an eyebrow. Yeah, that word has totally been used to describe him before.] I don't normally have the time to talk to heathen shit like you.
[Really, Sasori finds Yukari's actions somewhat distasteful. It shows an utter lack of self-discipline, to allow one's sexual urges to overpower oneself in such a manner.
Of course, she isn't human, and from her typical behavior it seems that youkai have laxer standards than he does. He shrugs.
And Sasori can't help but wonder at why Hakkai would refuse such an attractive woman's attentions to begin with. Perhaps he's simply too weak-willed to be able to handle a strong woman like Yukari. It's rather pathetic really, but then, Sasori has never been particularly impressed with Hakkai. It's no wonder Yukari is too much for him.

Ah, yes. We'd been planning a bit of a camping trip for some time now and decided to finish our planning at my house in Kusa.
[Far, far away from those memories, from the wrecked house with a hole in it, manacles still looped aroudn a post, and muddy tracks on the floor.]
I did mean to leave everyone a message, I apologize.

Next time she wants to have some fun like that, I'll just direct her toward you then. Problem solved!
