The universe lacks something, although lack may not be the best word for it. Lack implies something is missing, a void, a gap. I do not believe this to be the case. The universe "lacks," for lack of a better words, "good" and "bad."

Nothing is inherently good or inherently bad. Everything that we label is simply a reflection upon our own experiences and observations, and subsequent thoughts on those experiences and observations. Every action, object, entity, notion, ... anything.

People often insist on assigning all of these things adjectives, quite sure that their opinion is the clear and absolute truth. Not only is this an arrogant assumption, it is, in my opinion, not the correct one to make.

How can one possibly do such a thing? It is, albeit unfortunately, impossible for one to predict all the other potential outcomes of a situation. Yet we try to imagine them. And, after doing so, we compare the current situation to the imagined one. Then, we assign the situation a label based on our reflections.

Out of the flowers of evil come paintings of beauty. Who are we to judge such things?
