What is an ACTS Retreat?
An ACTS Retreat is a three-day, three night Catholic Christian retreat presented by lay men and women, with spiritual direction provided during the weekend by Oblates and/or Spiritual Directors. Retreats for men, women, and youth are given separately. Talks and activities focus on Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service. Holy Scripture and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church are the guides for the retreats. The retreats goals are to strengthen your faith and its application in your daily life, to renew yourself spiritually and to build lasting friendships. Retreatants return to their parishes and churches with a deeper love for each other and a desire to become more involved in their parish faith communities. The retreat facilitates the attainment of a new or deeper relationship with the Lord through:
- Adoration - the call by, acceptance of, and response to God
- Community - the love and caring of each other
- Theology - the study of God through scripture and the Catholic Faith
- Service - to God and his people
Sides:
Pro: ACT retreats are life changing events that invite you
to become closer to God and bond with you Brothers and Sisters.
Con: ACT retreats is a brain washing cult of the Catholic Church.

*Note:
To start off, I am personally Con ACTS.
Maybe it's because I'm viewing it as an outsider.
And that I have never been on an ACTS retreat before.
But I will confess that I don't plan on attending one,
due to difference in beliefs and work schedules.
Their songs are very catchy indeed,
but their pride can get too much for me
(I am not saying this out of observation, but out of experience).
I do admit that I criticize a lot, or am too cynical for my own good.
But again, I do not intend to offend anyone.
I respect everyone's belief, wherever religion your faith lies in.
Just respect mine.

[Edit:]
I realize that this is more of a Open Discussion than a debate. It's basically Opinions.
I also came to think, what is Con ACTS about? Being against it to the point where you wish there WAS no ACTS retreat?
Or persuade others not to go on one?
If that is so, I am not so Con ACTS. Only to a certain point, but I will NEVER tell anyone not to go. It should be THEIR decision.
Not mine.
Just like so many others replied, Con because it isn't my "thing".
Choices are choices, ultimately up to you as an individual.
My choice isn't to dissuade, just reject invitations.
Sorry.
