It's pathetic really but I have fallen completely head-over-heels for this author. It's BAD. I have read ALL of his works in less than a week. Granted they're not particularly long ones, but STILL.
I have never, ever read mystery books before. I don't like mystery. Dunno know why, it just never tickled my funny bone. What I do enjoy is m/m romance, but my luck in finding any good romance is proportional to winning the lottery. Maybe someday. I'm probably too picky. So anyway I went to
x_arigatou_x to check out what was on offer and they do have a great selection of manga and novels. It was here, thanks to
princessgolux (thank u thank u thank u thank u!) that I discovered Josh Lanyon. Mystery writer. You read that right. Mystery. But not just mystery, oh no. He's a mystery/gay romance writer (sorta kinda maybe). I was wary, given that they are mysteries, but holy cow - the man throws in everything I love in romance + intrigue. They're not lame who-dun-it? books, at least I don't think so, they're funny and charming and witty and interesting and best of all I LOVE HIS CHARACTERS. Seriously, he has a way of getting me involved with them - of making them human - so that I want to know more about them and keep following their relationships. All that and true love? I'm sold. I'm a sucker for true love. I guess it's a good thing he writes sequels :)
Yeah, so now that I'm caught up on all his current wiritngs - with one exception that I'm still waiting in the mail for - I'm biting my fingernails in anticipation of his next work due out in mid-December. I read an excerpt of it already (you would think I'd know myself better by now) and since then I haven't been able to sit still. And I still have to wait another MONTH!? Oh god. i can't make it.
*sigh* this is what's so awful about me. when i fall there's no such thing as a soft landing ^_^
