does it make me a horrible person that i cannot support my sister and her mission work? i just can't do that right now. i don't believe that the muslim faith is wrong...it's just different. does that make me a bad christian? a bad sibling? a bad person? i don't understand what to do with that ( Read more... )

I think its wrong that Christians as a whole try to convert people who are happy with their religion. Telling them its all wrong. It just doesn't make sense to me. Why go in there and tell everybody they are living a lie. I got a thing...against missionaries as a whole, your sister is nice though.

What if you believe what that person is doing is wrong? Let's say that...my friend is a racist and says the N word. Should I support him in what he wants to do? By doing that am I playing into the larger structure of oppression ( ... )

It makes you human with your own opinions. Just because they are your family doesn't mean you can't disagree with them. I totally don't agree with Mission trips. Religious studies has changed the way I think. It doesn't make you a bad sister, human, christian. It makes you real and opionated. That is ten times better than being spoon fed thoughts. Oh, and by the way, I'm calling you sunday and telling you about my ohio DISASTER. i love you EP. Thanksgiving is soon.

i totally agree with how you feel about that issue and i feel the same way. i'm more about right now, finding my own perfect balance and relationship with God. other people hold different beliefs and its more enriching to know that that is out there. what would the world be if we are all the same. i mean i've been told that i needed to be saved and i really don't think i do. i think people that need to be "saved" are the ones out there trying to convert people who already have a faith (even though the faith is different from that of the convertors). - nothing against your sister and brad because i'm glad that they have that kind of relationship with God and the church, but i just don't agree with missionary work all together. having a faith is hard to do, why make it harder by telling someone that their faith is wrong and yours is right? to me that seems like answering the question 2+2=? with "yes". this probably makes no sense, but i'm incredibly tired on account of just getting back from the farm in middle of nowhere alabama. so if ( ... )

I agree with Ben. I think you should just love her and support her, but you don't have to agree with it. I want to be a missionary, so I'm probably not the best person to comment! I feel like God has blessed me so much and I just want to share that with other people. I don't really know what to tell you, but I don't think you are a bad person at all! I love you and miss you bunches! Two and a half weeks until Thanksgiving!! Jen
