Running to stand still

Happy new year, darlings.

I have nothing to report! I've kind of fallen into that funk where I don't feel like I have anything to contribute by posting, so I don't post, and then the feeling that when I do post it needs to be with exceptionally interesting subject matter, which I don't have, and it all just compounds. But! Whatever, it's a new ( Read more... )

we are super. and natural!

I keep thinking that I should just make up a system for short succint feedback for fics. Like, a rating system from one to five exclamation marks. Some way to feedback that mimics ebay or something. But then I wonder which is worse: not commenting on somebody's fic, or writing "A+++++++ would buy from again!" in a comment to somebody's fic.

Fannishly, I resolve to read more fics and to make icons. And maybe to comment more. I'm always afraid I'll be perceived as annoying if I indulge in a long drawn-out comment thread, so I usually don't, even though I think they're fun.

"A+++++++ would buy from again!" " I am giggling away because this is an AWESOME idea. HA HA HA!!!

Monkie - welcome back! Good for you with clean slate. I, ironically, daily annoy myself by posting then wondering why I did, yet do it again anyway. I shouldn't be so paranoid. We should all post, it's why we're here ;) (Although my big trip of '07 will kinda cut out a lot of fandom stuff. Oh dear).

Re comms, I definitely agree with taking 'em off if they annoy you. Supernatural_tv was bugging me so I took it off (or I watch not join, I can't remember. Either way, it's not on my flist anymore).

Using icon of magickly's that I got via Weesta and means YES MAKE MORE ICONS.

Oh, man. I think supernatural_tv is probably a great resource but I could never deal with all the posts on it! I just rely on the lovely newsletter ladies to grab the good stuff. :)

And yes, yay, no paranoia! You're exactly right. Posting and interacting with people who read what we post is the reason we have LJs, right?

Happy new year, sugar!

Indeed. No paranoia for us both. *Flexs fingers of posting*

Well indeed, the newsletter crew does SUCH A GOOD JOB there's really only a need to be a member of that. I keep on fic comms so I can post to them, but I mostly filter them out. (I don't know how people cope with big flists. I have like 140 people and it be a struggle to keep up!)

Anyway - Happy New Year to you too!

I really like long comment threads too, but they have to be sort of organic, you know? God, one of my best fandom memories is a silly comment thread that I did with Kassie back when everyone was zany with the Paddywhack thing. It birthed the "Paddywhack says count the six-pack, bitch!" which still cracks my shit up.

But eeeeee, I like your fandom resolutions. Those are nice ones. :)
