Ahhh, work. How I did not miss thee.
I am slowly, slowly making my way through the backlog of fic that was posted while I was gone. SLOWLY. Y'all're so prolific, I love it, and it seems like more awesome people are writing in this fandom every day, and just. It fills my so-called cold, black heart with joy and glee.
And so does this: I am totally not worthy, but [ my silly little mindreading!Dean fic ] has spawned not one, but TWO incredible stories by other people.
First, there's Stone Princess and her [ remix of There the Crevasse ], for spn_remix and told from Dean POV (which means I owe her BIG TIME 'cause now I don't have to write it). I recced it before authors were revealed, but it deserves another mention -- honestly, anyone who read the original and liked it will LOVE this, because it does a perfect job of filling in the holes and, honestly, making the original make more sense. And her Dean is hysterical. [Sam/Dean, NC-17]
And then, today, I find out that the stupidly talented and prolific nymeria wrote a prologue! It's called [ Whistling in the Darkness ] and I had no idea she was doing it until she'd finished it and sent it to me and was darling and sweet about asking to write about my characters and dudes. I actually had a really good idea in my head about how Dean handled the mindreading growing up, and I am amazed at how well what she wrote fit that. (Actually, Stone Princess did this too: used the Dean POV to show just how fazed he ISN'T about the whole thing.) Nymeria's goes into the whys and the hows and there are ninja comics and oh, love. (And then she shows me up by using poetries for her title where I use Tenacious D lyrics, which might be the story of my life.) [gen, PG]
What else. Oh! My ridiculous Sam- (and Jared!) love this season has meant less time spent obsessing over the Ackles, so behind the cut is a little bit of that for you.
It's possible that I'm just blinded by Jensen's insane, insane hotness, but he is fucking kicking my ass with his acting this season. And I'm not even talking about the dramarama so far, although it's been impressive too. (More on the end of 2x04, for example, when I can do some caps.) I want to mention the stuff he's done comedically. Because it is killing me.
Exhibit A: in 2x04, Sam asks, "Are you high?" And I laugh for two years at Jensen's reaction. His little face! (Cap snagged from cathybites).
Someone made a .gif of it and I usually detest animated icons but oh, oh. I am TEMPTED by that little scene.
Exhibit B: the director's cut clip from this week. God. His comedic timing is really, really, REALLY good. The facepalm! At the end! AHAHAHHAHAHAH, oh god, I cannot wait to cap that. But seriously. The buildup and pacing and everything in his little speech is just perfection. And see, okay. I LOVE Jared this season. LOVE HIM. He is reigning supreme like a disco queen. But this little clip showcases how he still has miles to go before he sleeps can match Jensen. Because his panicked "DEAN OMG STFU" is zero-to-sixty way too quickly, comparatively.
So, yes. Jared=love. Jensen=stupid, stupid, stupid love.
I feel marginally inspired to do one of those "this is ME" posts for all the new people on my flist (including such gems as: me and Cathy and the Ackles are birthday triplets, and y'all can be jealous!), but I will refrain for 24 hours and see if it still seems like a good idea tomorrow.
