New York Guard
Finally I accomplish to be able to volunteer for the New York Guard. I was thinking about this for long time. I know it is only volunteer and I do not get pay benefits. I think it is good for me help myself in my career and networking skills. Maybe meet new friends and connections. One thing I find annoying is that I do not have access to buy Army uniform in PX anymore. Even online store I can not buy Army unform items. I do not have that benefit anymore since I am not active duty. I have to buy my own uniform from the Ranger Outfitter website. I don't like that site it is terrible site and expensive uniform items. Such a rip off to buy things from that site.
I don't know about retiring from the NY GUARD. I see some people in ny guard volunteer for many years. I don't know if that will happen for me. I see what happens. I see some people there they work and have the benefit getting paid by state guard at the same time.
It is nice to have those perks but that is not my life. I have a different path in my life.
I decided to attend the ny guard annual training this year 2022. I sign up for PLC primary leadership course. I notice their acronyms are little bit different compare to the Regular Army Acronyms. I got the NY Guard orders to attend training class. man! I don't have any equipment I feel so fucked up and unprepared. I hate attending training feeling unprepared. it's not like regular army anymore where they issue you equipment for training. I can only buy the basic uniform shirt pants and socks and PT clothes. the other military equipment I can not get. I am a veteran now so I don't have access to PX anymore.
I will take some days off from my work at Verizon and attend PLC. I don't know what to expect. I hope for the best on this training.
