actually, it's best if there is no background [if that's what youre saying you did].

having no background makes it look cleaner, less junky. her old layout, you couldnt read anything.

btw, you probably shouldnt add something/change something to someones layout unless youre asked too. -- normally, a layout looks the way it is for a reason.
