the Tokyou update!
This weekend, the Jac and I went to TOKYO! That's right we went to the city that Midgar was based off of! It was awesome. A geek's dream come true.
First, we boarded one of these:
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b17/monkeypen/P1010336.jpg The shinkansen is amazing. It's the smoothest running train I've ever been on. As you're sitting there, a girl will come into the car, bow, and push a snack cart by. Then, when she's about to leave, she bows again. It's like EVERYONE'S first class. Japan is interesting.
After getting to Akihabara(late) we ran into this guy and his enormous "bikurishita" face:

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b17/monkeypen/P1010342.jpg I love this ad. It's like the western guy is all into the Japanese girl, and his girlfriend's cool with that.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b17/monkeypen/P1010343.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b17/monkeypen/P1010344.jpgChris is also a ball of energy.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b17/monkeypen/P1010347.jpgespecially when ordering at kappa.
*quick note. when we were eating at kappa, some drunken dude started yelling at the manager. Then he stood up and got in his face. they were yelling back and forth for maybe 15 minutes. this is REALLY rare for Japan, since everyone's usually so nice.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b17/monkeypen/P1010348.jpgthis place's name was "Condomania"
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b17/monkeypen/P1010349.jpgWe walked around town looking for a place to stay, in that time we stumbled across this band. They're called the Dive. They don't play Ramones covers.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b17/monkeypen/P1010351.jpgThis one's up to you guys.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b17/monkeypen/P1010350.jpgI want all of them.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b17/monkeypen/P1010352.jpghttp://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b17/monkeypen/P1010353.jpgGaijin up in here! I tell Jac "i'm not even IN this shot" and he replied "it's an artistic shot" The exuberence is substantial!
and lastly:
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b17/monkeypen/P1010346.jpgsorry I geeked out. It's the latest in the Suikoden series.
sooooooo Jac and I eventually found a reasonable manga cafe to spend the night in. That's right, we stayed in an all night manga cafe. basically it was 1000 yen for 8 hours(just enough time to get some uncomfortable sleep). There were tons of manga there but I didn't find any of interest so I just got on the computer and looked up moves for Paul Phoenix. On saturday alone Jack and I went to about 5 different arcades, and played Tekken 5 at each of them! He wants tog et better with Brian and I want to actually win matches with Paul. These dudes are seriouslly good.
We came back home today, after checking out Harajuku in the morning and seeing a bunch of gothic lolitas and girls with neko-mimi and girls that might be dudes and what not. I went into a couple shops but apparently none of the stores carry "giant gaijin" sixed clothing. boo hoo. all in all this trip was awesome though.
