Last week, I replaced the caulking on the bathtub... twice. The first time, I used Ultra Mono, which I was told was supposed to be good. However, after giving the stuff an extra day to dry, it started coming off when immediately touched by water! WHAAAT?! Anyway, I read up on Mono and, basically, it used to be good. Now, however, it is crap. So, I went to Home Depot and bought a silicone-based product from GE. Apparently, it is better than acrylic-based caulking, which is what Mono is. So, I applied it after scraping the Mono off and gave it not two, but three days to dry. This time around, the caulking held up on first contact with water. Plus, it is still holding up now! Do you know what's interesting about this GE caulking? It cost half the price of Ultra Mono... Yep, more expensive is not always better!
Jess and I just came back from watching "Hansel & Gretel - Witch Hunters". It was a ton of fun and the 3D effects were awesome. It's been a while since a movie had stuff that flew out of the screen at the audience. Nowadays, "3D" is depth-only, so this film was a welcome change. My problems with the movie, though, had to do with the editing and Jeremy Renner. Bad enough that it was clear Mr. Renner was dialing it in, it was also clear that a LOT was cut out of the film to accommodate whatever movie length the producers were aiming for. The end result was unexplained plot points and a very weak performance by Renner. Still, everything else was great! Heck, even Famke Janssen was good! Ms. Jean Grey was horrible in the "X-Men" movies. I thought she was completely incapable of enunciating and being a strong character. Well, her witch in "Hansel & Gretel" proved to me that she can definitely be strong and loud. Way to go! Anyway, I do actually recommend this film to those looking for something to watch in the theatres. The 3D effects are worth the price of admission. Just don't expect an Oscar-worthy movie and you'll be good.
