Two men are in custody after a series of brazen daytime robberies and a car chase in Vaughan.
The robberies, including one at a jewelry store, took place at the Promenade Mall near Bathurst and Centre Streets at around 1:30 p.m.
The Toronto Star reported police seized a silver handgun from a van that crashed on Keele Street just south of Highway 7 in the afternoon.
There were no injuries despite reports of multiple shots fired at the mall, the shopping centre parking lot and on the highway.
Unconfirmed reports state the suspects hijacked a van and sped away after the robberies.
The newspaper is reporting nearby Leo Baeck Day School was locked down at around 1 p.m. but was reopened an hour later.
