So, this is now the third day of college...and I would have to say...COLLEGE IS AMAZING!!!
So, starting with weds., we decided we would drive down to Indiana with my things, which including Chicago traffic (which was awfull because there was an accident), it took 7-8 hours. It was just going to be me and my dad driving down because my mom was working, but she was able to get off, which caused some problems... you see the car was packed excapt for the front two seats, but now my mom was coming and I had to sit in the back. So the entire way down to Indiana I was a contortionist, 2 bags and a t.v were at my feet and another bag and my backpack was on my lap. Let's just say it was not the most comfortable experience of my life. Once we get to Indiana we have to go straight to the Freshman Induction Ceremony, since we were running late, in which the president of the school speaks to us and we learn the IU code, the IU song, the IU chant, etc... Right after that we rush over to my dorm and lug about 10 loads of things up to my 5TH FLOOR room. My roommate on the otherhand, only brought one suitcase and her violin...probably a good thing, now there is just more space for my stuff :) My roomate is cool, but kindof shy and sticks to herself a lot. She is a violin major and practices it constantly, she is so amazing at it. So, ok I started to unpack but as of now there are still tons of unpacked things, my room right now is a wreck..::sigh::
Right away I met up with all the IFLE kids I was with this summer which was awesome, and so I got to meet there friends and everyone on the floors of there dorms, so I got to know more people.
I guess I'll move on to yesterday, which was by far the best. I slept in till about 12:00...nicccceeee... then I had an Academic Orientation for the College of Arts and Sciences, where there are booths set up for each department, special program, section, etc... So I got to talk to the heads of both the Environmental Science Department and The Geology Department, very cool conversations. I also talk to the overseas people, because I'm definitly planning on doing a semester abroad some time during the next 4 years (hopefully earlier). I would really like to go to Australia or New Zealand. I love both country's and they have EXCELLENT environmental science courses and programs, better then any offered in the US. I also was able to get two work study jobs, both during and after this orientation. One work study job is in the environmental science department in a geology lab, which I will credit hours for as well...YEAH... and the other is hanging and designing lights for there theater productions...YEAH AGAIN. The lighting guys name is Mr. Shakespeare...I thought that was hilarious for a guy working in theater. Moving along, I ate lunch, and then went to CULTURFEST. First it consisted of a section in the auditorium where they gave a history of Indiana U, and the different cultures and backgrounds and the different organizations, etc.. then a guest speaker came who was one of the funniest people I have ever met, he talked about diversity but in a stand up comedy way, I laughed to entire hour he talked...I have to remember his name...whatever, I'll find it and tell you later... then afterwards, it's like a small summerfest, live music, food (FREE...YES!!!!!!!!!), booths for different cultural organizations. I joined the native american cultural organization and the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Student Support Center...it was cool they gave me a pin "Straight but not Narrow," i like it. Then we moshed to the live music. Then I went to hang with one of my new friend's Lizzy, and Jagan, Tim, and Woody. We just played music and talked for hours...
Last Night we went to a party at the frat house Delta Upsilon. It was a great party, but me, Lizzy, and Jordan stood by the guys, they protected us from some of the crazy druck guys, and girls for that matter...But it was amazing I'll just say that...no details...But I had one guy named Steve who lives at the frat house and is friends with Jagan and Tim, hold my keys, and he still has them I didn't pick them up, so I have to find him. I had to stay overnight on Juggs and Tim's futon, it was still cool...I wonder where Steve should be, and my phones out of batteries because my charger is in my room....soooooooooooooooooooooooo complicated.
Then this morning I had to go to a meeting for students who are directly admitted into the College of Arts and Sciences. I got a certificate...didn't really want one...but they gave me free breakfast. Now I actually have to run or I'll be late. I having a meeting/lunch with a geology proffessor at 12:00. But later today, I'm going to an open house for GLBT, going to the stadium for a pep rally and the football team, then the memorial union for fun, games, bowling, food, etc... then midnight madness, which is where they shut down Target except for us and everything is 50-75% off. MADNESS, STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!! Then a different frat party...Ok, so I really have to go.....
Even though its been great, it's been incredibly hectic and stressfull, I'm actually ready for classes to start on Monday.
I love you all and miss you
