On the way back to Cape Town....smokestarts belching out the back of the car. Had to stop at a garage. Took the guy 5 mins to fix. Pretty low mantainence those beetles. Apparently a cap to keep the air running smoothly through the engine was missing. Which was reason why my car was stinking of petrol for the previosu two weeks :-S. So now I did not have to suffer the petrol fumes any more. Typical :-)
Well one pitsop and a short hop back to Capers along the back roads of South africa...total offroas experience great fun. Totally stunning scenary yet again...even the rain added to the experience.
Oops forgot...stopped of on the way back...can't remember the name of the town. Hired a kayack for 4 hours...took a great trip around the bay. Was really nice towards the end we got pretty close to some humpback whales soo...cool. Also a couple of curious fur seals came within about a yard of the canoe...skimming and playing around the edges of the canoe...until the got bored. Totally great experience.
Now back to Capers:-)
4 Days left till leaving.

The same day I visited an old Boere for from the early colonial occupation. this was used to establish the land held by the boeres and maintain the trade route out of South africa.
The next day I went for a walk to the top of Table Mountain. It was a hard wlak...but it only took about one and a half hours. Unfortunately it was really misty so it was difficult to get any vistas of cape Town.

For my final day in Cape Town I took a trip to Robben Island. my legs were killing me after yesterdays hike up T-Mountain.
Well took the boat across to the island. On the way we saw more penguins in the sea. Apparently there are tens of thousands of them on Robben Island. I saw a few roaming around free. The visit here was really interesting. We were given the background as to what type of prisoners were held here. Initially it was for Leppers. Later it was used to jail
political prisoners of the apartheit era. The trip included a tour of the whole island and a visit to the jail block of Nelson Mandela and a historical account by a former inmate.
Bye bye South Afica.
