I wrote this a wile back
I would like to keep this short and sweet. If two people love each other I am happy for them. I don’t care what gender or race they are. If they can find love good for them. I think that if people don’t like gay marriage they should just not have one or attend one. If they say marriage is about having children why are they are not against infertile couples getting married. I think it is just another case of people trying to have their religion become law. I find it highly ironic that conservatives who clam to be for less government are trying to make gay marriage illegal. I guess I can not ask for consistency with politicians .
Politicians claim to respect our rights not to have to adhere to the various laws of their religions . At the same time they try to pass there morels as law. There for they are hypocrites and I honestly do not expect them to respect my rights and the rights of others.
Some of them try to teach theories in class wile disregarding things that have scientifically backed.
The only thing they seem to respect is power. My guess is the only way to make them listen is to write and threaten to vote for there opponents .
Religious institutions on the other hand are under no obligation to have or condone any marriage. Do to separation of church and state they can not be forced to condone marriages they do not like. This not only applies to same sex marriages but to marriages where the parties are of different religions or
denominations. They members of a religion institution have more of a choice to be part of it then the members of a society have to obey the government. Meaning if you find some thing wrong with the religion you are currently part of you can ignore certain rules or join another one.
How ever if you do not like the rules of your government and you disobey them you can be sent to jail or fined . If a Religious intuition tries to incarcerate you or harm you for disobeying there orders you can have theoretically report them to the police and get a restraining order. A government is much harder to bring to justice.
