Under a canopy of cheery blossoms, I sat and stared high through the branches and into the filtering light until I felt the coolness of the earth and grass. The flowers were in full bloom, their petals just beginning to float off. Frisbees flew lethargically through the air and tumbled along the ground like hubcaps from a car accident. The clouds were far up in the sky, feathery and wave-like. A blue-bellied Boeing churned at a constant noise underneath.
Eyes closed, I felt a sudden fear that an errant Frisbee might find its way toward my forehead, but I gave in and just let the wind blow through me. The warmth of sunlight and the cool of the breeze made it feel as if a tide was rolling in.
Laying on my back, I wish it could carry me away.
If only it could always be like this.
