What's that bright, hot thing?

Here's hoping you spend your winter with things you love that warm you up. I'm grateful to be doing that, and I'm also grateful the cats and dog don't actually know how to boil water.

I always liked that Big Country song In A Big Country, from back before I realized that some people don't get the sun in wintertime, and now it rather makes me feel guilty, but just know that I was listening to the very line, "I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert, but I can live and breathe and see the sun in wintertime," JUST AS THE SUN BOUNCED OFF ICE AND BLINDED ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING. So, you know, that song is good and all, but I'm not sure I'll feel the same, "YAA-HAA!" thrill when I hear that line as I did back in the '80s.

Of course if you're reading this and you're in the southern hemisphere, happy summer and enjoy your laugh at us for having all this snow and ice. Ppppbt!

I forget if I ever said what the cling film joke is about, but through Overcompensating I got to read all about Roy Orbison in cling-film. My life wasn't the same after that experience, and so I figured I'd go ahead and out myself as someone who used to stick cling film to my cheeks to try to give myself a facial. -_-

("Facial" in this case meaning I washed my face with really hot water it the hopes that it would stop breaking out. I was a spotty child.)

(...yes, I'm aware there are other meanings for "facial," hence the note.)

updates, ice follies, babble
