gotta love a plan that works

so i applied for this job that I found on the careerowl website on March 10th. got an e-mail back that same day saying the guy was away until the 16th. Then I got another e-mail from that same guy on the 12th saying they had received my resume and they would be looking at all candidates shortly.

The 13th, the ad appeared in the local paper.

I sat and waited impatiently. And waited. Wanted to send an e-mail back, but hubby said no, so I did not. Was going to call Monday, forgot until it was too late. Was going to call yesterday, again forgot until it was too late.

Then this morning, I said THAT'S IT, call already. So I did, and when they answered, I hung up. Big CHICKEN! So I called again, asked for the guy and actually stayed on the line. Turns out I was on his list of people to call today. Yay for me! nothing like being proactive. . . . . so now I have an interview on April 1. Funny, my list of goals for the year included finding a new job by April, guess you can't cut it much closer than that. Still have several other resumes out in the universe as well.

Things here are probably going to get crazy in the next few weeks. The unions are in strike position next Thursday. The health authority contracted out housekeeping and food services earlier this year, with over 1,000 people losing their union jobs later this year. The HEU came out today and announced that the company that won the contract is unionized with the IWA not the HEU, so that went over REALLY well. Of course the sucky thing is that exempt staff, of which I am one, are expected to fill in for union people if there is a strike. I get to work 8 hours in Detox/Sobering Centre and then another 4 hours in Geriatrics. And just to screw up my life altogether, I get Tuesday/Wednesday off. Great, 60 hour work weeks and no weekend with my family. I gotta get a new job!
