For some reason E has become particularly set on being told a story before bed. Not read a story, which has always been our bedtime mainstay. He wants us to make stories up for him. I cannot even explain how challenging this is for my tired brain every night. Sometimes I change up and recycle plots I remember from fairy tales, movies or fic (I think I may have told him a romance-less variation of the story where Gerard is dragon!Bob's treasure, what can I say, my brain only has a certain amount of space and fic has apparently set up residence there).
He's taken to specifying what kind of stories he wants. Sometimes it is stories about Golden Retrievers. Most recently he wanted a story about "a bomb that doesn't blow up, and can talk." Yeah. Now we are mired in the tales of Action Man, Trouble Boy and BOOM the bomb that doesn't explode (and can talk). And basically I feel like I need to start commissioning actual writers and story tellers, because this shit is hard. Kudos to all of you for voluntarily taking the time to share your stories.
