Man, I am effing ROCKING at this WW business! I find that I'm eating things that are keeping me fuller longer, which really helps keep me away from those hungrybadchoices moments that have always seemed to be lurking around the corner.
I had basically the same breakfast as yesterday--Cheerios, fat-free soy milk, banana, peach (and I'll have to mix it up every once in a while so that I can avoid plateaus and boredom)--but since I had lunch plans with Adam I had to figure out a) where we were going to eat, and b) what I'm going to eat when I get there.
Eating out is a particularly annoying challenge when you're trying to lose weight; portion sizes are out of control, lots of menus don't even TRY to carry healthy things besides salad, the people you're eating with have things you wish you could have, etc. Obviously you can't plan for every little thing, but if I know in advance that I'm going out, I check online to see if a restaurant has their menu posted, and even better still, the nutritional information for their menu.
Wanting a change of pace from the usual Yonge-Eglinton fare I've frequented in the last 5 years I've worked here, I chose Boom Breakfast & Co. (Yvonne Fun Fact: I'm pretty much ready for "breakfast food" at ANY time of the day. Eggs/homefries/toast/fruit/pancakes/Benedicts - I love it all!). They have their menu posted online, and even had litle icons beside their "healthy" options. I opted for an egg white omlette chock full of veggies that came with a side of guacamole and salsa, toast and fruit. I entered all of these things into WW--estimating portion sizes--and lunch would be a paltry 6 points. Sweet!
Upon being presented with my plate I could see that my estimates were off--3 egg whites were clearly 6, 1/4 cup guacamole was only 2 Tbsp, and 2 slices of whole wheat toast turned out to be only 1. Less guac and toast = 5 points, and I couldn't even finish it all.
Adam got a chorizo sausage sandwich with carmelized onions and roasted red pepper, and though his meal sounded delicious, I didn't find myself lusting after his plate, like I have with previous dieting experiences. Now if he'd gotten the Eggs Benny...that might have been a different story. I effing LOVE me some Hollandaise.
Final note on Boom:
What is the deal with your bathroom stall? Who designed this thing?
Knowing I'll be spending the weekend with Sam in Peterborough, I've planned for a trip to the Pita Pit using their
brilliant online nutritional calculator. A 6" Club Pita with veggies, cheddar, feta and EXTRA Caesar dressing--just like I used to get in university--is a whopping 13 points. I've already put it into my tracker so that work around it on Friday. Responsible splurging! Awesome!
Trivia was cancelled for tonight, but it actually works out better for me that it was. This way I can get some laundry done and pack for Peterborough, I can get a pedicure when I get off work! BONUS: I can ride my bike home rather than having to leave it at work all
weekend; exercise that I wouldn't have gotten today since I didn't ride in and went for lunch with Adam in lieu of going to the gym. That would be the "roll" part of my rocking.
Everything's coming up Milhouse Yvonne!
