It's decided...
...I'm taking Mom to The Dominican Republic!
Left field, huh? Well, it wasn't even really on my radar until a friend on Facebook suggested it, and after talking with a travel agent last night and looking at prices, I decided on The Gran Bahia Principe Ambar!
It's an adults-only, 5-star luxury resort, and the travel agent tells me the food is suberb. I've also read excellent reviews online about this particular resort, so I'm super stoked about it.
Plus, neither my mom nor I have been there before, so it will be a completely new experience for both of us; something to bond over.
It was at the upper end of my budget, but what I realized in all of the deciding--which was mostly pained because I was concerned about the money (I'm always concerned about the money)--is that this trip is special to me because it's for my mother and I, and we'll never get this time back. I want it to be amazing, and it's worth the few hundred dollars more than I intended to spend to get the luxurious, relaxing vacation I need, and to give my mom a brand new and unforgettable experience.
