over the mountains and through the desert
here is my road trip synopsis
iowa-free food from brads relatives, i slept through everything that wasn't des moines
nebraska-holy crap, somebody shoot me that was so boring
colorado-very beautiful, driving through the mountains in the direction of the setting sun is a little scary. also, the continental breakfast at the hotel had belgian waffles.. awesome
utah-didn't see any mormons to my dismay, drove 90+ most of the way. some mountians, not as boring as nebraska but close.
arizona-only took about 30 mins to drive through, everyone drives really fast through the mountains, a little scary
nevada-las vegas was decidedly dull, i had much more cinematic expectations of driving through the desert with a single road sign that said "las vegas 246" nope... but jean, nevada was pretty sweet. there was a hotel shaped like a river boat. i did not use the bathroom in or around las vegas.
california-desert, desert, highway.... highway........ more highways..........................highway....... and then the ocean.
so here i am in playa del rey, i went for a bike ride on the beach my first full day here and popped my bike tire. it's cool, there are several bikes in the garage i can use if necessary. i start working at urban again tomorrow to save up for our apartment deposit. living out of a suitcase isn't all bad when you are staying in a beach house less than 10 yards from the ocean for free.
