Recently, I received a forwarded email (I hate those), from a friend. The text of the email was a reactionary piece that I would describe as "curmudgeonally Conservative to the point of senility or criminal ignorance." I asked the person to refrain from sending me anything of the sort again, as I was so horrified that it had been said, and horrified further that this person had agreed with it so much that he'd forwarded it to a great many people, that I had to meditate on it a while. I'm very fragile right now when it comes to my ability to judge character, and I felt I'd failed myself here.
It turns out, though, that not only was the piece not authored by Andy Rooney, he has taken pains to remove it from circulation or, at the very least, remove his name from it.
Huh. Well, my opinion of Andy Rooney has shifted a little. Still don't know what to make of the forwarder, though.
But while we're here, Happy Belated Birthday to "Weird Al" Yankovic, who turned 47 on 10/23/06!
