Summer '08

Apr 02, 2011 00:34

I was just thinking about how great the Summer of 2008 was for me. It was the summer that Narrow Stairs came out and I listened to it on repeat and began to obtain the Death Cab back catalog since all I owned apart from Narrow Stairs was Plans. It was the first Summer my parents really trusted me to be at home alone, to go out on my bike alone. I discovered Everybody Else. I listened to a ton of Feist as well.
The Death Cab and Everybody Else are particularly relevant, because they were my favorites of '08 and now they're both releasing new albums for the Summer of '11.
'08 was also the Summer that I started my book (which I am withholding the name of until I decide on a good one). This is the longest thing I have ever written, the subject matter that I actually love, this is the book I am going to be finishing during my time off of college. Like, during one of my first listens to Narrow Stairs, I was writing the opening lines to this book. So, if my muses, Death Cab For Cutie and Everybody Else can open the door for my story, can they help me give it closure too? And is this summer going to rock, or am I just being hopeful?
