I think my five year old desktop finally died. No viruses detected anywhere, but it keeps going into hibernation mode and won't come back out. Had to reinstall windows, but I found a program that lets me sift through the old files and save them to the new OS. I'm glad I bought an external HD! Gonna try installing Vista tomorrow and see if that works. If not, looks like I'll be buying a new desktop tower this fall after Windows 7 comes out. I'm kind of bummed that my itunes library is again gone. This means I'll have to go through and fix all the album covers again. ugh.
