i got Melissa Ferrick's phone number. Whoot! Her show last night at Starr Hill was the bomb. Very cool too see a whole set. It was a "listening room" show so they had chairs out and it was non-smoking. Not the Starr Hill I'm used to but cool nontheless. It was actually nice to sit. The opener Stephen Kellogg was quite entertaining. They threw in some Bon Jovi licks and closed the set with a full-on cover of "(I've Had) The Time of my Life", key-tar included.
Melissa had a bass player and drummer with her. Her second night with them and they helped fill out the tunes. I miss the octave pedal she used when she didn't have a bass player sometimes, but the band was cool. Got BJ the starr hill soundguy to get introduce me to her techie, who I had met just days before at our Boston show but had forgotten her name. She took us in the dressing room to meet Melissa. I was wearing a Carbon Leaf shirt and she remarked that she had just played with them to which I remarked, "yah i work for them, i just met you thursday". Then she made the connection, it was funny. She's super cool and very down to earth. We swapped numbers and email and she hooked me up with her new disc, which was cool since we forgot to trade in Boston. I'm already looking forward to her show at the Canal Club in Jan.
