Cheeseburger bill, my weekend, next weekend, the following weekend...

Apr 13, 2005 07:50

Congress (today) passed a bill dubbed the "cheeseburger bill" officially called the Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act (click to read more) to stop frivolous lawsuits such as the ones that the two teenage girls brought against McDonald's stating eating their food caused them to be obese and have diabetes. The news came to us and wanted opinions on the bill since I manage a restaurant/live music club. We serve 1/2lb burgers and such. Unfortunately I was edited out but my GM wasn't (he also talked alot more than I did). But we (and most of the people interviewed) agreed that it is the responsibility of the individual or parent to control what they eat and how active they are.

Funny thing, no one in the interview disagreed with the bill except an obese woman with her obese family that were coming out of (surprise!) McDonald's. She said they should offer healthier choices. They do, it's called a salad. That lady was a salad dodger.

Saturday was nice. Audrey and I went to Boerne for their market days. Vendors were set up in the square. Audrey bought a Passion Vine

that bloomed while it sat in her car. They are so pretty and attract butterflies. Lori had one but wasn't able to keep it under control and said the caterpillars eat the leaves up before they become butterflies. I think they would look great on a fence. I soooo want a garden!

I bought a little beaded pouch/purse to put my ID, cash and cell phone in when I ride. I also bought a bigger one with a zipper to take on outings so I can have my hands free. I also bought the cutest black purse, but it's so thin I can't really put my fat wallet in it so I'll have to buy another one of those too. I'm not much of a perfumey person but I bought this body spray with a nice light flowery scent and I love it. I can't believe I would buy something like that but I had to have it. My final purchase was a beautiful butterfly bracelet. I've gotten so many compliments on it already. I can't believe I bought so much stuff. I can't believe Audrey didn't buy anything really. Usually it's the other way around.

For lunch we went to a little bakery on the strip and shared meals. I got a grilled eggplant sandwich with onions, zucchini and peppers. It was delicious! I also had a tomato basil soup. It was a bit strong so I asked for some milk to make it creamier. Audrey had a grilled chicken caesar wrap and a garden salad. Also tasty.

Sunday we folded laundry and bug bombed the house. The weather got hot and we're having a problem. There are all these little ones everywhere. It's grossing me out. I think it's from the neighbors. We put in extra bombs and Ed even came back and bombed the kitchen again but it didn't seem to work, we're still seeing these little ones. Ugh. Gives me the willies.

I went to my parents house with the dogs in the meantime and we played with Amber before my folks brought her back to Audrey's. Sunday evening Ed and I and my brother headed to Lori and Bobby's for a little BBQ. I pigged out on chips and salsa. Mmmm. We ended up watching Napoleon Dynamite. Matthew had never seen it and I missed the wedding part the first time. We had a really good time but I was worn out and a little tipsy so we left around 10pm.

Today I'm going to look at houses (again). Please, please please let us get one soon!

Friday my cousin Perry is coming into town. Fiesta starts Friday. Woo hoo! We're taking him to Oyster Bake. We had such a great time last year, a whole group of us are going again this year. On Sunday we're heading to Ft. Sam for their Fiesta and Fireworks Extravaganza. We went last year as well. It's a great family oriented event. It's not as crowded and there aren't a ton of drunken college students like at NIOSA. Plus you can bring your own food and beer. Bonus!

Tuesday kastastrophe is coming. I want to go to NIOSA that night but she may be too tired from her trip. We usually go the first night because it's not as busy. Mo and the cops (Mike and Randy) are going that night as well. They would be fun to hang out with.

Friday and Saturday next weekend are going to be nuts at work. The parades literally start at my work. Everyone in the parade comes to eat there before the parade begins. Plus everyone watching comes to get food during the parade. For Friday, the day parade, we sold "seats" on our patio but it's first come first serve and no saving seats. That's going to be a total headache. Tom, one of the (dipshit) owners was in charge of it this year and had to make it so much more difficult than necessary and everyone is already complaining and guess what...he's not even going to show up, leaving Mo and me to deal with all these fucking pissed people. I already told one lady (who was frustrated but nice) that I would do whatever I could for her and would have a margarita ready when she walks in.

Saturday, the night parade, won't be as bad because we rented the patio out to one group (a beer distribution company). This will go much smoother than the day parade.
